Don’t select really sad songs. If you’re going through a hard time you might not want to bring the world along with you because they’re probably out trying to have a good time.

Choose a karaoke song that lasts under four minutes. I know that it seems like choosing an eight minute rock and roll song that you saw on Waynes world, but people are waiting in line to sing also! A three to four minute song is a good choice and won’t turn people off from you and you won’t overstay your stage welcome.

Don’t keep requesting karaoke songs until you have finished singing the song you have signed up for. If you go up on stage before the rotation is over most likely they’ll ask you to sit back down. Everyone is waiting to sing karaoke so be sure you respect others as you would like to be respected.

The Austin karaoke scene is a fun and laid back scene to join, but it’s good to vibe with the scene so you can have as much fun as possible. Keep these rules in mind and you’ll do just that.

On the other hand the white queen costume is very straight forward. She is the same character in Alice in W. as she is in the Looking Glass so you can’t really go wrong there. Both are great outfits but I think it comes down to your personality. If you have more of a dark side then maybe the red queen costume is right for you, but if you’re a good girl but still wants to have fun then the white queen is just right for you. I think that more girls can pull of the red than the white simply because the white queen was depicted as being perfect, and we don’t want to try to live up to that!

Last year I took the simple route and just went and bought a wig and some cool contacts that had fire on them. I was pretty amazed at how they look and they don’t really constrict your vision at all. There were sometimes that I would look from a certain angle and could see that something was blocking, but the contacts for the most part were comfortable and I received a lot of compliments on them. I think getting a pair of cool contacts is something almost everyone should do for their costume. You can get really inexpensive costume contacts and really make any halloween costume better.

Whatever I decide this year it will be fun.
